Is this what we can expect here in the Netherlands?!

I think it's crazy that there is  a drop of ten thousand (!) teachers in the UK and the teachers assistants have almost trebled!
We all know that there is a economical crisis but I don't think it's smart to cut on the most important thing for our future (my opinion) education!
if we ever want to get out of this crisis it's important to proper educate our youth, and the only way we can do that is to keep the good teachers on the schools and let them educate the children in the right way!

    I agree that it's not a good idea, those short-term decisions in times of crises. The same goes for the cuts in education in the Netherlands. It will take years and years to heal the things that go wrong now. Cuts in education: not a wise plan!

    I certainly have to agree with you Joost. Education is essential for our youth and therefore for the future of the entire nation.
    Cutting on staff when budgets are cut seems to be the first solution, but it is certainly not the best.

    This is really ridiculous. I thought they already had a shortage of teachers in the UK. This makes things worse. The quality level will certainly decrease, while education already had a lousy reputation.
